UU- UUEncoded File

What is .UU File and How can be Open into the Desktop?

A .UU file is an encoded text file created with the Unix-to-Unix encoding system (also known as uuencode). It contains plain text that has been encoded with the UUE format to allow the text to be transferred over networks or between computers that use different operating systems. The file can be decoded with a UUE decoder to view the original text.

UU files are usually sent as attachments in emails, and can also be found stored within disk image files. It is an older file format and is rarely used today because it is not as secure as other encoding formats like Base64.

In order to open a .UU file on a desktop computer, you will need a UUE decoding program. There are a few free programs available online, such as UUDeview, UUConverter, and UUDecode. Once you have installed the decoder, you will then be able to open the .UU file in the program and view the plain text contained within it.
