What is .XEX File Format and How to Open it?
An XEX file is a game executable created for the Xbox 360 gaming console. It contains game code and data that has been encrypted and compressed with the Xbox 360 executable (XEX) format. It is typically used for Xbox 360 game modding, though some homebrew applications and emulators are also distributed as XEX files.
XEX files can be opened and edited with tools like Xbox Image Browser, XEXMenu, Horizon, Modio, and others. To open the file, the appropriate program must be installed on the computer. Once the file is opened in the program, the user can then view the code, resources, and data contained in the XEX file.
If the user wishes to edit the XEX file, they will need to use a hex editor or a modding tool. Hex editors allow the user to directly modify the code of the file, while modding tools provide an easier way to make modifications to the game data.
