VXD- Virtual Device Driver

What is . file Format and How can we Open into the desktop?

A .VXD (Virtual Device Driver) file is a type of Windows file that is used to provide support for hardware devices, such as sound cards, modem cards, and CD-ROM drives. It is a low-level system file that acts as an interface between the hardware device and the operating system. When the operating system needs to communicate with a particular hardware device, it will access the associated .VXD file to do so.

The .VXD file format is not meant to be opened or viewed directly on the desktop as it is not a user-facing file. Instead, the operating system will access the file when it needs to in order to communicate with the associated hardware device. If the .VXD file is missing or corrupted, the hardware device may not function properly. In this case, the .VXD file can be replaced with a fresh copy from the driver disc or from the manufacturer’s website.
