GDB- InterBase Database File

What is .GDB File Format and How to Open it?

A .GDB file is a database file used by MapInfo Professional, a desktop GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping application. It contains a variety of data layers, such as points, lines, polygons, and text, which are used to create and store maps. GDB files also store information about the origin of the data, the map scale, and the coordinate system used to create them.

To open a .GDB file, users need to have MapInfo Professional installed on their computer. MapInfo Professional is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems and can be purchased from the MapInfo website. Once MapInfo Professional is installed, users can open and view GDB files by clicking the “Open” button in the File menu of the application.

MapInfo Professional can also be used to edit and modify GDB files. Users can add new data layers, edit existing data layers, and apply various analysis tools to their GDB files. Once any changes are made, users can save their GDB files in their original format.

Aside from MapInfo Professional, there are a few third-party applications that can be used to open and view GDB files. These include GIS software such as QGIS and gvSIG, as well as database viewers such as DBF Viewer Plus.
